Keep MEDDPICC (or your methodology) up to date on HubSpot deals
Put Scalign's MEDDPICC, MEDDIC, BANT or SPICED read on the HubSpot deal and keep it current daily — a scheduled task in your AI assistant, no setup in Scalign.
The short version
You don't have to read this page — your AI assistant can. Copy this and give it to Claude, ChatGPT or whichever assistant has your connectors:
Set up the daily sync of my Scalign sales-methodology read (MEDDPICC etc.) into my HubSpot deals. Use Scalign's help tool to read the guide "Keep MEDDPICC (or your methodology) up to date on HubSpot deals", then follow the prompt under "Set it up" step by step, stopping where it tells you to wait for my OK.
What this does
Scalign reads every deal in the sales methodology your team speaks — MEDDPICC, MEDDIC, BANT, SPICED or MEDPIC — from your meetings, emails and the buying committee. This guide puts that read on the HubSpot deal, in fields your managers already look at, and keeps it fresh every day. Nothing to install: your AI assistant does the work, with Scalign and HubSpot connected to it.
Scalign writes its meeting note to the HubSpot company on its own. Deals are different: a company can have several, and only you know which one a conversation belongs to. So this sync runs in your assistant, where it can look at the open deals, match them to the people in the room and ask you when it is unsure.
Before you start
- Your methodology is chosen. In Scalign, an admin picks it under Settings → General → Sales methodology. Until then the methodology tool is not available and the assistant will tell you so.
- Scalign is connected to your assistant. Follow Connect Claude, Cursor and other AI tools (MCP) or Connect ChatGPT if it isn't.
- HubSpot is connected to your assistant with HubSpot's own connector, signed in as someone who may edit deals and create deal properties.
- Scheduled tasks in the assistant, so the sync can run without you. Verified with Claude. In ChatGPT the setup and a manual run work the same way; whether its scheduled tasks can use connectors depends on your plan — check before relying on it. An assistant without a scheduler still works: re-run the prompt yourself after your meetings.
Set it up
Open a new chat in your assistant and paste the prompt below. It configures itself: it learns your framework from Scalign, proposes the HubSpot deal properties, does one dry run for your approval, and only then creates the daily task.
Set up a daily sync of my Scalign sales-methodology read into HubSpot deals. Work through these steps in order and stop whenever a step says to. 1. Check that you have both the Scalign and the HubSpot connectors. If either is missing, stop and tell me how to add it. 2. In Scalign, call list_companies with limit 3 and sort last_activity, then get_company_methodology for the first company. Learn the framework name and its elements (letter, name, key). If the tool is missing or says the methodology was unset, stop and tell me to pick one under Settings → General → Sales methodology in Scalign. 3. In HubSpot, propose one multi-line text deal property per element, labelled "Scalign <Framework>: <Element name>" (for example "Scalign MEDDPICC: Economic Buyer"), plus one date property "Scalign <Framework>: as of". Show me the list and wait for my OK. Then create them, or, if you cannot create properties, give me the exact list to create by hand and wait until I say they exist. If you cannot update deal properties at all, say so and fall back to writing one note on the deal per sync instead. 4. Dry run on the first company from step 2. Find its HubSpot company by domain, then its open deals. One open deal: use it. Several: pick the one whose associated contacts match the people Scalign lists for the company (list_stakeholders) or whose name fits the meetings; if still unsure, show me the candidates and ask. Never write to a closed deal, never create deals, companies or contacts, and never change any other field. Show me exactly what you would write for each element — the status in capitals, then the one-line summary, then "as of <date>" — and wait for my OK. 5. After my OK, create a scheduled task that runs every morning at 07:00 my time. In Scalign, call list_company_updates with since set to 25 hours ago. While the result says has_more, call it again with its next_cursor as the cursor. On Mondays call it with no since and no cursor instead, so deals that only changed in HubSpot (stage, amount) get a fresh read too. For each company returned, repeat step 4 without asking, skipping any company you cannot match to exactly one open deal; write the elements and the as-of date. End each run with a short summary: deals updated, companies skipped and why, and anything that needs me. Throughout: a status of "missing" means Scalign has nothing on that element yet, not that the deal lacks it. Write it as "MISSING — nothing in the data yet". Keep each field under 1,000 characters.
What ends up in HubSpot
One text field per element of your framework, on the deal. Each reads the same way:
PARTIAL — Lars is selling the evaluation internally, but no buyer has replied since 14 Sep despite three follow-ups. As of 2026-10-22.
- COVERED — the element is backed by what buyers said or wrote.
- PARTIAL — something is there, but not enough to call it done. The summary says what is missing.
- MISSING — nothing in the data yet. Not a verdict on the deal: it is the question to ask in the next meeting.
The as of date is the day Scalign made the read. Scalign re-reads a deal whenever it moves — a new meeting, a customer email, a note, or a change in the buying committee or deal health — and the daily run only touches deals that moved since the day before, so a quiet deal keeps its last read and date. A change made only in HubSpot (a new stage or amount) does not count as moving, which is why the Monday run reads every deal.
How the assistant picks the deal
Scalign tracks one buying effort per company; HubSpot may hold several deals for it. The task matches on the open deals associated with the company: one open deal is used as is; with several, it prefers the deal whose contacts are the people in the meetings. When that does not settle it, the company is skipped and listed in the run summary so you can tell the assistant which deal it is — say so in the chat and the task will use that deal from then on.
Changing the sync
- Different fields or wording: open the scheduled task in your assistant and edit its instructions. The property labels and the status format are plain text in the prompt.
- Another framework: change it under Settings → General in Scalign, then re-run the setup prompt so the new properties get created. Old fields stay until you delete them in HubSpot.
- Stop: pause or delete the scheduled task in your assistant. Nothing changes in Scalign.
If something is off
- "The workspace's sales methodology was unset" — pick one under Settings → General → Sales methodology in Scalign, then run again.
- A company is skipped every run — it has no HubSpot company with that domain, or more than one open deal. Fix the company's domain in HubSpot, or tell the assistant which deal to use.
- A field reads stale — check the as-of date. If the deal moved and the date did not, the company was not in Scalign's list of changed companies; ask the assistant to sync that one company by name. A change made only in HubSpot waits for the Monday run.
- The read itself is wrong — the fields mirror what Scalign knows. Correct the source in Scalign: the speakers on the meeting, a person's role, or the company a meeting belongs to.
