Connect your email: Gmail or Outlook

Connect Gmail or Outlook so the assistant drafts follow-up emails in your mailbox (never sends them) and reads email threads for context.

Connect your Gmail or Microsoft 365 mailbox and the assistant can draft follow-up emails straight into it and read your email threads with a customer for context. It never sends anything: drafts wait in your mailbox for you to review and send.

Connect your mailbox

  1. In Scalign, go to Settings → Connections.
  2. Under Google / Microsoft account, click Connect on the Gmail or Outlook card.
  3. Sign in with your work account and allow the requested permissions. You're sent back to Scalign with the account connected.

Each person connects one mail account. Once one is connected, the other folds into a "Using a different mail account?" link.

What the assistant does with it

  • Follow-up drafts. Ask for a follow-up after a meeting and the assistant writes it into your Drafts folder. You approve the draft in Scalign first, then open it in Gmail or Outlook to edit and send.
  • Email context. It reads your email threads with a company, so prep and answers reflect what was said over email as well as in meetings.
  • Scheduling. Ask it to book a follow-up and it creates the event in your calendar with a Google Meet or Teams link, after you approve it.

Permissions

Gmail (Google):

  • gmail.readonly — read email threads for context.
  • gmail.compose — create drafts. Scalign never sends email for you.
  • calendar.events — create calendar events you've approved.

Outlook (Microsoft Graph):

  • Mail.ReadWrite — read email threads and create drafts. Scalign never sends email for you.
  • Calendars.ReadWrite — create calendar events you've approved.
  • openid, email, offline_access — sign in with Microsoft and stay connected.

If Microsoft says "Need admin approval", your organization only lets an administrator approve new apps. Send your IT administrator the IT guide; one approval covers the calendar and the mailbox.

Disconnect

On the card under Settings → Connections, click Disconnect. Scalign stops accessing your mailbox; data already brought into Scalign stays, and you can reconnect any time.

Troubleshooting

  • The card says Needs reconnect. Google or Microsoft revoked access (a password change or a security policy). Click Reconnect.
  • The card asks for more permissions. You connected before Scalign needed one of the permissions above. Click Reconnect and allow them all.
