Connect Microsoft: Teams and Outlook

Connect your Outlook calendar so Scalign knows which Teams meetings to join, and what your IT administrator does if your organization requires admin approval.

Connect your Outlook calendar so Scalign knows which Teams meetings to join. If your organization restricts new apps, your IT administrator approves Scalign once, for everyone. IT administrator? Skip to For the IT administrator below.

Connect your calendar

  1. In Scalign, go to Settings → Recording, click Connect under Calendar and choose Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Sign in with your work Microsoft account and accept the calendar permission (read-only).
  3. Under Meeting assistant, choose whether it joins external meetings, internal meetings, or both. For meetings it shouldn't join, use the desktop recorder instead.

If Microsoft says "Need admin approval"

Your organization only lets an administrator approve new apps. Scalign shows the connection as Needs IT approval with an Ask IT to approve button.

  1. Send your IT administrator this page and the approval link (the one behind the button): https://login.microsoftonline.com/organizations/adminconsent?client_id=ce1883a7-248c-492a-9222-f208f434ad3d
  2. Once they've approved, click Connect again. The approval is one-time and covers everyone in your organization.

For the IT administrator

A user in your organization wants to connect their Microsoft 365 calendar to Scalign (scalign.ai), a sales intelligence platform that records and analyzes customer meetings. Your tenant requires admin consent for new applications, so a one-time tenant-wide consent is needed. All permissions are delegated: Scalign only acts as the signed-in user, and nothing is read until a user connects their own account.

  1. As a Global, Privileged Role or Cloud Application Administrator, open https://login.microsoftonline.com/organizations/adminconsent?client_id=ce1883a7-248c-492a-9222-f208f434ad3d
  2. Check that the app is Scalign, client ID ce1883a7-248c-492a-9222-f208f434ad3d, review the permissions and click Accept.
  3. Tell the user to connect again.

Permissions (Microsoft Graph)

  • openid, email, offline_access — Sign in with Microsoft and stay connected.
  • Calendars.Read — The meeting assistant sees upcoming Teams meetings so it can join the ones you choose.
  • Calendars.ReadWrite, Mail.ReadWrite — Only if a user also connects their Microsoft account: follow-up email drafts in their mailbox, and email threads with customers where enabled.

Prefer not to consent tenant-wide? Allow user consent for verified publishers, or turn on the admin consent workflow, under Enterprise applications → Consent and permissions. Data is stored in the EU; see our security overview and sub-processors.

Troubleshooting

  • IT approved it, but I still can't connect. Sign in with the work account in the organization that approved it, not a personal or guest account. If IT restricted the app to assigned users, ask to be assigned.
  • My meetings aren't showing up. Check the calendar badge under Settings → Recording: Needs reconnect means Microsoft revoked access (password change, security policy) — click Reconnect. Needs IT approval means approval is still pending.
  • The assistant didn't join a meeting. It only joins meetings on the connected calendar, of the kind you chose under Meeting assistant. As a backup, start the desktop recorder.
