Connect Google Calendar

Connect your Google Calendar so Scalign's meeting assistant knows which meetings to join and record.

Connect your Google Calendar so Scalign's meeting assistant knows which meetings to join. It's the calendar connection that makes recording automatic; your Gmail account for follow-up drafts is a separate, optional connection.

Connect your calendar

  1. In Scalign, go to Settings → Recording.
  2. Under Calendar, click Connect and choose Connect using Google.
  3. Sign in with your work Google account and allow the calendar permission. It is read-only: Scalign sees your events and never changes them.
  4. Under Meeting assistant, choose whether it joins external meetings, internal meetings, or both. For a meeting it shouldn't join, use the desktop recorder instead.

Permissions

  • calendar.events.readonly — see upcoming events and their meeting links, so the assistant can join the ones you choose.

If Google blocks the connection

If Google says the app is blocked or needs approval, your Google Workspace administrator restricts third-party apps. Ask them to allow Scalign in the Google Admin console under Security → Access and data control → API controls → Manage third-party app access, then click Connect again.

Troubleshooting

  • My meetings aren't showing up. Check the calendar badge under Settings → Recording. Needs reconnect means Google revoked access (a password change or a security policy) — click Reconnect.
  • The assistant didn't join a meeting. It only joins meetings on the connected calendar, of the kind you chose under Meeting assistant. As a backup, start the desktop recorder.

I use Outlook and Teams. See Connect Microsoft: Teams and Outlook.
