Record an in-person meeting

Record a meeting that happens in a room, not on a call, with the desktop recorder and your computer's microphone. Afterwards, you tell Scalign who was there, so the meeting counts toward the right customer.

You need the desktop recorder installed and signed in, with microphone access allowed.

Start recording

1. Put your laptop where it can hear everyone, ideally in the middle of the table.
2. Open Scalign Assistant and click Record in-person on the Record page. On a Mac, you can also click the Scalign icon in the menu bar and choose Record in-person meeting.
3. The app shows Recording the room with a level meter. Check that it moves when people speak.

Starting an in-person recording stops any online meeting recording that's running.

Tell it about the meeting

While it records, the app asks a few questions. You can answer them during the meeting or right after.

1. Which meeting is this? Pick the calendar event, or None of these.
2. Title, for example "Discovery with Acme".
3. How many people, including you?
4. Who's here? Search by name or email to add people.

Stop recording

Click Stop recording. After 90 minutes the app asks Still recording? Click Continue to keep going; if nobody answers within 15 minutes, it stops on its own.

Finalize the meeting

Every desktop recording needs a quick check before Scalign analyzes it. When it's processed, it shows as Needs finalizing in the app's History.

1. Open it and check the people In the room. Add at least one person from the customer's side; their email domain decides which company the meeting counts toward.
2. For each voice in the recording, choose who it is: a person, That's me, Someone else, Several people or Don't know.
3. Click Finalize meeting.

Scalign separates the voices in a room recording but doesn't recognize who they are, so this step is what connects what was said to the right people.
