No summary, or the wrong language

What each message in place of a summary means and what to do about it, and how to fix a summary or transcript that came out in the wrong language.

A recording's summary and insights are written after the transcript is done and, for desktop recordings, after you've confirmed who was in the room. When the summary isn't there, the card in its place tells you why. The second half of this guide covers summaries and transcripts in the wrong language.

No summary yet: what the card means

"Transcribing", "Analysing", "Identifying speakers", "Extracting insights"

Processing is still running. A short meeting takes a few minutes, a long one longer, and the page updates on its own. If you've just edited Meeting details, the card says Changes saved and processing starts a couple of minutes after your last save; Process now skips the wait.

"2 voices to identify" or "Confirm who was in the room"

A desktop recording waiting for you to confirm who spoke. The summary names the people in the room, so it isn't written until you do. Click Finalize meeting; the summary follows a few minutes later. See Wrong or missing speaker names, including what happens if you don't finalize.

"Almost nothing was captured in this recording"

Fewer than about 25 words were transcribed, so there is nothing to summarise. Usually nobody joined, the microphone wasn't allowed, or the audio didn't come through. You can still read what was captured. If the meeting clearly had speech, the transcription may have run in the wrong language; see The transcript is in the wrong language below.

"This recording hasn't been analyzed yet"

The analysis didn't start or didn't finish. Click Send for analysis. If the card comes back, email support with the recording link.

The page shows participants and topics, but no sales insights

Scalign classified the meeting as internal, a vendor call or something else that isn't a sales conversation, so it kept to a summary, topics and actions. If it is a customer meeting, open Meeting details, set the Meeting type to discovery, follow-up or customer call and Save; the full analysis runs. A transcript Scalign couldn't make sense of lands here too, which is another sign the language was detected wrong.

The summary is in the wrong language

Summaries, insights and actions are written once and shown to each person in their own language. Your language is set under Settings → Profile → Your language and applies the next time a page loads; there's nothing to re-process. Menus and buttons stay in English, and direct quotes stay in the language they were said in. If a page shows one section in English and the rest in your language, reload: a translation briefly failed and is retried.

Settings → Profile, Language: the Your language field set to English
Your language, under Settings → Profile. The change applies the next time a page loads.

Two things follow the workspace language, which an admin sets under Settings → General, rather than yours: notes Scalign writes to your CRM and anything else shared with the team. Content read through Claude, ChatGPT or another AI tool connected over MCP comes in English, and your AI tool translates if you ask it to. See Set your account and workspace language.

The transcript is in the wrong language

Scalign detects the language of each recording automatically, one language per recording. When it picks wrong, the transcript reads as gibberish or as a different language, names are mangled and quotes are missing. Fix it by telling Scalign the language:

  1. Open the recording and choose Meeting details from the menu in the top right.
  2. Switch on Advanced at the bottom of the page.
  3. Under Language, pick the language the meeting was held in. Choose the specific language, not Auto: re-running detection gives the same result.
  4. Click Save. The recording is re-transcribed, which takes a few minutes, and the full analysis runs again.
The Advanced section of Meeting Details: the Language field set to Auto, with the note that changing the language re-transcribes the recording

A re-transcription produces new voices, so a desktop recording may ask you to finalize again; the people you confirmed before are kept where the voices match.

Some limits:

  • Only recordings made by the assistant or the desktop recorder can be re-transcribed. Transcripts imported from another tool are used as they came.
  • Re-transcription needs the original audio, which Scalign keeps for a limited time (30 days unless your workspace has agreed otherwise). After that, the Language field says the recording can't be re-transcribed.
  • A meeting held in two languages is transcribed in one. Pick the language most of it was in.
