I can't find a recording
Where a missing recording usually is: still processing, outside the list's scope, private to whoever recorded it, merged with a colleague's recording, in another workspace, or never made.
A recording that isn't where you expect it is usually in one of six places: still being processed, hidden by the list's scope, private to the person who recorded it, merged with a colleague's recording, in another workspace, or never made. Check them in this order.
Check the list first
Call Recordings in the sidebar lists every recording you can open, newest first. Three things narrow it down:
- The scope at the top right. All shows everything you can open. Mine shows only meetings you attended, so a desktop recording that hasn't been finalized yet, or one where you aren't among the people in the room, can be missing from Mine and present under All. Private shows the recordings that aren't shared with the workspace.
- The search box finds meetings by title, attendee, company or meeting type, and All meeting types filters by type.
- Recent Recordings on the home page only shows the latest few; the full list is under All recordings.
It's still being processed
A meeting the assistant joined shows up in Scalign shortly after the call ends; transcribing and analysing it takes a few minutes for a short meeting, longer for a long one. A desktop recording is uploaded when you stop it, and the app lists it under History with Processing until it's done. A desktop recording then waits for you under Needs finalizing, both in the app and on Call Recordings, before the summary is written; see Wrong or missing speaker names.
If a recording has shown Transcribing or Analysing for more than an hour, email support with the link.
It's private to the person who recorded it
You can open a recording when it is shared with the workspace, when you own it or recorded it, when you were in the meeting as a colleague, or when the owner added you. A recording the owner keeps private is invisible to everyone else, admins included. Ask the owner to open it, click Share, and either switch on Anyone in workspace or add you under Add a workspace member. See Who sees your recordings.
A colleague who turned Share new recordings with the workspace off under Settings → Assistant keeps every new recording private until they share it.
A colleague recorded the same meeting
When two people record the same call, or the assistant joins a call you also recorded, Scalign keeps one recording owned by whoever recorded first. Your recording is attached to it as a transcript and you can open it, but it is listed under the owner's name and their title for the meeting. Search for the customer or the date instead of your own name. See Two people recorded the same meeting.
You're in another workspace
Recordings belong to one workspace. If you are a member of several, switch with the workspace name at the top of the sidebar. The desktop recorder records into the workspace chosen in the app's sidebar; if you belong to several, the workspace switcher there picks which one gets the recordings.
It was never recorded
- The assistant didn't join, or left the waiting room after ten minutes: see The assistant didn't join my meeting. A meeting nobody recorded can't be recovered.
- The desktop recorder only records on its own when Record automatically is on under Settings → Assistant → Add the desktop recorder; otherwise you start each recording in the app.
- Recordings where almost nothing was said are still kept and listed, with Almost nothing was captured in this recording in place of the summary.
- A deleted recording is gone. The owner and workspace admins can delete a recording they can open; Scalign can't restore it.
Still can't find it? Email support@scalign.ai with the meeting's date and title and who recorded it.
