Use email context in a deal

Use what buyers write over email, alongside your meetings, to prep, keep track of promises and see which way a deal is moving.

A lot of a deal happens outside the meeting. The pricing question that lands on a Tuesday, the "let me check with legal" reply, the champion who goes quiet for two weeks. Sync your customer emails and Scalign reads those threads alongside your meetings, so the company page shows where the deal really stands.

Haven't turned it on yet? Start with Bring your emails into Scalign.

Before a meeting: catch up on the thread

Prep and the assistant draw on your email threads as well as your meetings. If the buyer asked a question or raised something over email since you last met, you walk in already knowing about it.

From the company page, ask the assistant or in your LLM with the MCP connected:

  • "What has the buyer said over email since our last meeting?"
  • "Did they reply to our proposal, and what did they say?"
  • "What's still open between us, from our meetings and emails?"

After a meeting: let the follow-through track itself

  • Promises made over email land on your action list, just like the ones made in a meeting.
  • Actions close themselves. When an email shows a promise was kept, Scalign closes the action and tells you what closed it. You can reopen anything from recently closed.

Say you promised the buyer your security docs in the meeting, then send them over email the next day. The action closes on its own, and you can see the email that closed it.

Between meetings: see which way the deal is moving

Deal health takes your emails into account too. A buyer who replies quickly and keeps the next step moving shows up in the score. So does a thread that has gone quiet.

Check the trend on the company page and the note on what changed. If momentum is dropping, use the suggested moves to restart the conversation. Spot deals losing momentum covers what to watch for.

New people show up too. When someone new joins a thread, like a CFO cc'd on your proposal, they're added to the company's buying committee, so you can see everyone involved, including people you haven't met yet.

Ask from Claude or ChatGPT

If you've connected Scalign to your AI tool, its answers draw on your synced emails too, so you can catch up on a deal without opening another tab. Use Scalign in Claude and ChatGPT shows how to set it up. Try:

  • "Summarize everything that's happened with Acme this month, in meetings and over email."
  • "What has Acme said about pricing, in any meeting or email?"

Get the most out of it

  • Get everyone who emails the buyer to sync. Each person turns sync on for their own inbox, so the more of the team that does, the fuller the picture.
  • Internal threads stay out. Scalign only brings in emails with people at companies you have a deal with, so your back-and-forth with colleagues stays in your inbox.
  • Your team can see synced emails. Check who can see them before you turn sync on for an inbox.

Keep a thread out of Scalign

Spotted a thread that shouldn't be in Scalign? Anyone in the workspace can take it out, including one that synced from a colleague's inbox. It's removed for everyone, along with what Scalign learned from it, and it never syncs again.

From the company page. Find the thread on the timeline and click it. In the thread, click Keep out of Scalign.

An email thread opened from the company timeline, showing the subject, 3 messages synced from your team's mailboxes, and a Keep out of Scalign button above the messages.

From your settings. Go to Settings → Email and scroll to Synced from your mailbox. Search by subject, name or address, then click Keep out of Scalign on the thread.

Synced from your mailbox under Settings → Email: a search box and a list of synced threads, each with a Keep out of Scalign button.

To block a person or a whole company, or to keep an email private before it ever syncs, see Bring your emails into Scalign.
